World famous Cuban Cigars
The Cuban cigar manufacturing process is inline with other cigar
manufacturing processes worldwide. The cigar is made after tightly rolling the bundle of dried and well-fermented
tobacco. These cigars have a very smooth and slender structure with an aroma that spreads through the room. The
manufacturing process for these enticing cigars has not changed over the course of time.
Even today, the cigars are valued because they are made with hands through a manual process, and cigar workers
also known as torcedores; who provide that magic personal touch to each cigar they create. The Cuban cigar magic
has also been transferred by these workers from one generation to the other, so that the tradition of producing the
finest quality cigar remains intact. The torcedores are well respected in the Cuban society and travel worldwide to
display their cigar rolling skills.
The Cuban cigars are famous worldwide as they are well made, with artistic touch provided to
each pack of cigar that is manufactured from the country. The cigar workers in Cuba take their profession very
seriously and never allow any blemish on the quality of cigars they manufacture. The whole process of creating a
cigar starts as soon as the tobacco reaches the table of the cigar worker.
After the plants are harvested, the leaves are hand picked to meet the quality standards. Only the best leaves
are selected for use in the cigar manufacturing process. These specially selected leaves are bundled and hung from
rafters of large, open, and airy barns to dry out completely.
There are three varieties of leaves selected out of the tobacco plant known as Seco, Ligero, and
Volado. These leaves provide a mixture of flavors to the tobacco. The Ligero provides the strongest flavor possible
to any Cuban cigar and is very valued. The natural humidity of the barn ferments the leaves through a natural
process creating well-fermented tobacco leaves for further use. The leaves are then separated from the bundle by
manually getting rid of their stems.

These leaves are then packed in an airtight manner and sent to the cigar manufacturers for
creating that magical Cuban cigar. The cigar workers give importance to all the intricate details
while going ahead with the creation process. Rollers are used to create the inner blend of tobacco,
by incorporating the right mixture of the three types of leaves. Cords of tobacco is created and
pressurized to form a firm tight pack.
This roll is then passed on to the workers or torcedores, for the final rolling activity. These
Cuban workers then show the true art of tobacco rolling by giving each cigar the right shape and
size. After this, the cigar packs are kept in the humidifier to age them, and provide that
wonderful pack of Cuban cigar, which is popular worldwide.
The main cigar manufacturing companies in Cuba are Habanos SA and Cubatabaco.
They are responsible for manufacturing, providing quality control, promoting, and distributing the
Cuban cigars worldwide. It is because of them that the Cuban cigars are readily accessible from any
part of the world and extremely popular. The hand made cigar packs have the inscription Totalmente
a mano, meaning hand made. Now day’s machines are also used to produce these cigars and any pack
without the inscription is machine made.
