Hopping across the Cuban Islands
Cuba in itself is a big Island and part of
an archipelago, which consists of five major Islands with Cuba being the largest one. The confluence of rich
culture and tradition, these Islands attract tourists from different parts of the world to visit its shores. The
climate is favorable and with a host of attractions lined up for tourists, these places are great tourist

The Island of Isla de la Juventud, also
known as the Isle of Youth towards the south of Havana is a great tourism centre of Cuba. This Island has a rich
vegetation layer of Pine trees and exports lumber to other locations worldwide. The people of the Island mainly
depend on farming and fishing for their livelihood. However, tourism is another big industry for the people of
this Island.

Though the Island is known as a hurricane
belt, it also has a favorable climate that makes it a great destination for tourists. Towards the southern
portion of the Island, tourists can enjoy lying around in the white sandy beaches and enjoy various water sports
activities. The northern part of the Island has black colored beaches due to the interactions of the dark
colored marbles with the seawater. This portion has some great scuba diving spots that are necessary to visit

Cayo Largo is part of
the Canarreos Archipelago and is known as the place where the first Cuban tribes of Siboneyes used to live. This
Island was also visited by Christopher Columbus and there is a story of shipwreck happening on its shores that
had precious treasure. Tourists who believe in this story visit the Island for treasure hunting. This Island is
also of the all-inclusive type, which provides tourists opportunities to enjoy all the services and facilities
that the various properties in the Island have to offer. The Island offers tourists a closer look at its rich
fauna filled with Tortoises, Seagulls, Iguanas, Pelicans, Colibries, and Shellfishes.
Cayo Coco is an
Island, which is a resort that tourists would definitely want to visit on their trip to Cuba. This place is a
paradise with great climate and lovely tropical sunshine. The island offers fishing enthusiasts with deep sea
fishing opportunities and the nice warm water makes it a great destination for scuba diving enthusiasts. The
dive sites in this Island are amongst the best in Cuba. This part of the country is also well known for its
enormous coral reefs that are filled with shark, angel, and butterfly fishes. This Island is filled with
thousands of pairs of Flamingoes that makes this place an important bird watching destination.
The Island of Cayo
Guillermo is extremely popular destination for tourists with the highly transparent clear blue
water and great looking white sandy beaches. The Island is located to the northeastern direction from Cayo Coco
and has many beautiful underwater landscapes that scuba diving enthusiasts would not want to miss. The large
coral reefs in this island are very near to the seashore thereby giving tourists of all ages a chance to
experience the joys of underwater diving activities. Cayo Coco is connected to this Island by a pedraplen. This
structure goes through shallow water connecting these two landmasses.
The Island of Cayo Levisa,
towards the north of Pinar del Rio is a place with exotic beaches and warm blue transparent water. This virgin
island has a great coral barrier containing numerous types of corals. The black coral is extensively found in
this coral barrier. Cayo Saetia is the untouched part of Holguin that is a virginal location with mangrove
swamps and rain forests. The fauna of this place consists of wild animals such as ostriches, deer, zebras, wild
bulls, feral pigs, and numerous species of birds. This is a great bird watching destination for tourists. The
small beaches in this island are separated by limestone cliffs and other structures such as rocky
outcrops.
